The center provides both its Kent Denver’s upper and middle schools with a consolidated music, theater, and visual arts instructional space. The 29,000 square foot building was pushed into the slope of a hill to meet local height restrictions and to fit within the campus’ heritage. This allows entrances at grade for both the upper and lower floors, providing the building a public face in two places. The program includes the Anschutz Family Theater with the flexibility to seat 250 to 500 patrons. The second performing space is the experimental theater, designed as a hybrid of the traditional black box theater and a teaching theater. With expansive sliding doors, the experimental theater easily transforms into an amphitheater.
